40 YEAR ANNIVERSARY JCB & NSPCC APPEAL

The NSPCC is the UK’s leading children’s charity and every year it helps to keep over a million children safer through its work with schools, national helplines, and specialist centres.

Over the last 40 years JCB has donated over £5 million to the NSPCC which has been raised through a variety of charity events including bike rides, lotteries, concerts, raffles, and a host of other sponsored events.

JCB, over the next two years, is committed to raising £2 million pounds for the NSPCC by launching the 40 year anniversary JCB/NSPCC appeal.

JCB lakeside 5 & Fun Run 2023

More than 320 runners embraced a party atmosphere to help celebrate four decades of a popular annual JCB road race.

People lined up for the 40th anniversary JCB Lakeside 5 and Fun Run cheered on by friends and family as they took on the five-mile main course and two-mile fun route around JCB’s World HQ in Rocester. Among the entrants were more than 70 JCB employees.

The event got JCB’s newly-launched £2 million NSPCC off to a flying start – raising £3,000 towards the target. Joining in the fun last night was company Chairman Anthony Bamford who cut a special 40th birthday cake to mark the occasion before sounding a horn to start the race. Among those on the starting line were his son George and grandson Caspian.

Sportive 2023

A total of 285 cyclists pedalled their way to success in the JCB Sportive – and gave a £10,000 boost to the company’s NSPCC appeal.

The non-competitive cycling event took place on Sunday September 17th 2023 and was open to JCB employees and members of the public of all ages and abilities. Competitors cycled three different picturesque routes of 50km, 70km and 100km around Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

The £10,000 raised this year will go to JCB’s NSPCC Appeal, which aims to raise £2 million over the next two years.

Apprentice NSPCC Loadall

A team of 36 apprentices combined their engineering skills to build a unique machine which raised thousands of pounds for the NSPCC.

  • The NSPCC apprentice loadall was auctioned in aid of the NSPCC and raised tens of thousands of pounds.
  • The bespoke NSPCC paintjob on this unique machine was designed by apprentices and included all of their handprints in the NSPCC's signature shade of green, adding a personal touch to a project which meant a lot to both the apprentices and the NSPCC.
  • Not only was this apprentice-built loadall a philanthropic gesture to the NSPCC, it was also a fully electric machine, not only displaying the brilliance of our apprentices, but the genius and forward-thinking that JCB champion when it comes to sustainable solutions.

Random acts of kindness

JCB Employees consistently go the extra mile for the NSPCC, aside from fundraising, we do what we can to better the lives of others.

  • For example, our apprentices spent a day painting, decorating and gardening to help brighten up the lives of children at a North Staffordshire NSPCC Centre.
  • At JCB, we try to do all that we can to improve the lives of those less fortunate than us, if you have any ideas of any fundraising activities, or if you want to get stuck in yourself, don't hesitate to get in touch - and keep an eye out for any announcements we post so you don't miss anything!
