East Staffordshire Conservative Parliamentary candidate Andrew Griffiths ensured he stayed true to his political colours when he visited JCB’s World HQ this week.

During a tour of the offices and shopfloor to meet employees at Rocester he also released a new breed of bird on to the famous JCB Lakes – a pair of Blue Carolina ducks.

It’s been a tradition for the past 45 years for the JCB lakes to be re-stocked with wildfowl to bring some colour to the natural environment and the Blue Carolinas are among the latest birds to be introduced.

Andrew Griffiths said: “I’m told the ducks get bluer by the day and with the election now just hours away, that’s something I’m hoping will happen in the East Staffordshire constituency!”

The lake in front the World HQ started life as a humble pond before the area was landscaped in 1969. The lake and its two neighbouring one are hailed as one of the most impressive examples of industry in harmony with nature.

The Blue Carolina ducks, which are four months old, will grow to 10 inches long. They are among more than 70 different breeds of ornamental ducks on the JCB lakes.
