Materials handling vehicles and machinery are key elements for the successful and productive operation of any recycling or waste management site – so it makes sense to choose the right machine for the job.
The tasks machines are expected to perform on a typical site have evolved and so too have user expectations of plant. The machines should be 'Fit For Purpose' in terms of safety, efficiency and productivity and it is vital to examine their specification, management reporting and true cost of ownership.
JCB’s deep understanding of the unique requirements of the Waste and Recycling industry is reflected in the 35 machine strong Wastemaster range. Being the widest of its kind in the market means there is a model that is fit for purpose in any application.
The World’s best selling Backhoe loader
Fitted with a package of features the Backhoe loader is transformed into a tailor-made, flexible and productive model for arduous waste environments. With its ability to power an extensive range of specialist attachments, the JCB 5CX Wastemaster will excel in the non-stop working environment typically found in all waste handling applications. Four stabiliser legs provide extra height for improved visibility into the waste containers, baler or shredder. The JCB Jaw Bucket or Selector Grab can improve compaction efficiency by up to 3 or 4 times. Powered by an 81 kW JCB EcoMAX engine the machine has three steer modes including 4-wheel steer and crab steer.
The World's only telescopic counterbalance forklift
Introduced in 1997, The JCB Teletruk does everything a conventional forklift does but, fitted with a telescopic boom instead of a mast, its capabilities reach far beyond. The machine provides unrivalled forward visibility, forward reach and large lift capacity on a compact machine. This makes it an ideal unit for loading and unloading a trailer from one side only – which not only saves time but also requires less space for trailers on a waste and recycling site. Attachments can be changed quickly and easily and the 111-degrees of carriage rotation allows loads to be picked and placed safely. The JCB Teletruk range comprises ten models, with lift capacities up to 3,500 kg and a lift height up to 5,510mm and LPG or diesel fuel options.
Telescopic handlers
JCB has been pioneering the telehandler concept since 1977. Its Loadall line-up is one of the most extensive in the world at over 30-strong, from compact models for accessing restricted sites to 4.9-tonne payload or 20 m lift height machines. There’s an accompanying vast choice of attachments, making this waste sector workhorse a true multi-purpose machine. The Wastemaster range features extra guarding, protection and uprated hydraulics. Powered by the efficient Ecomax engine the machines are designed for ultimate manoeuvrability and feature three different steer modes. The range has capacities of 2700-6000 kg and lift heights of 5.8-8.1 metres.
Telescopic wheeled loaders
The EcoMax-engined TM320 Wastemaster is a versatile telescopic wheeled loader with articulated steering, powerful loading, telescopic reach and a huge range of dedicated waste attachments. This model has a 3200 kg lift capacity, a 5.2 metre lift height and a 2.9 metre forward reach. Because the design has been stress tested across a lifetime of cycles to emulate arduous digging and dump situations – typically found on a waste and recycling site, it offers the assurance of reliable performance over thousands of hours. A flow-sharing hydraulic system allows two functions to be performed at the same time for reduced cycle times.
Tracked excavators
JCB offers a large range of durable track machines, from 11 to 37 tonnes, which are built for hard work. Their tough design combines with ease of maintenance and exceptional operator comfort to enhance productivity. Four working modes allow the machine’s performance to be tailored perfectly to any application in a waste and recycling environment. The range offers bucket capacities of 0.85 cubic metres to 1.93 cubic metres.
Wheel loaders
Wastemasters take the tough design that is common to all JCB wheel loaders to a new level. Extra guarding for the cab and lighting are standard, as is underbelly protection for the driveline and transmission. Heavy-duty puncture-resistant tyres help minimise downtime in harsh waste environments. A loading shovel is always in demand for all sorts of applications so JCB offers a variety of model configurations – all designed to provide safety, efficiency, ease of use, ease of maintenance, productivity, performance, reliability and comfort. The range extends from the compact hydrostatic drive 2-tonne models, to giant 24-tonne powershift machines and standard bucket capacity is 0.4 to 3.5 cubic metres. With a comprehensive ranges of options and attachments means a wheel loader will be productive in any application.
Wheeled excavators
When sites are looking for an excavator with more versatility and manoeuvrability than tracks can offer, the reliable and durable JCB wheeled excavator range is the ideal solution. A plethora of options such as a hydraulically raised cab and a choice of material handling or scrap handling booms and arms allow these machines to be tailored to address specific site operations. The JCB HYDRADIG 110W is a new addition to the range. It has been built from the ground up to meet customer requirements for improved visibility, stability, manoeuvrability, mobility and serviceability. The range offers a maximum bucket capacity of 0.31 to 1.18 cubic metres and a max operating weight of 11,457 to 23,773 kg.
