A leading Scottish plant hire firm - which celebrates 25 years in business in 2013 - has switched to JCB excavators as part of a major new investment in its fleet.
Already a major user of JCB backhoe loaders and Loadall telescopic handlers, Falkirk-based Lomond Plant Hire has also now added JCB tracked and wheeled excavators, with a total of 78 new JCB machines delivered in the last 12 months. These included: 8014, 8025, 8045 and 8085 compact excavators, JS130 and JS220 tracked excavators and JS160W wheeled excavators along with a JCB Loadall 535-125 and 30 JCB 3CX backhoe loaders.
The new machines have been put to work on a series of government and civil engineering contracts. The latest sees new JS160W wheeled excavator and 3CX backhoe loader models in action at a waste water treatment plant in Central Scotland on the banks of the river Forth. The machines are on hire to a civil engineering specialist, which is working to upgrade the facility on behalf of Scottish Water. Work carried out includes the installation new filters.
Lomond Plant Hire Managing Director, Ross Easton said: “A successful year has seen the expansion of our fleet as demonstrated by this significant order. 2013 marks our 25th year in business and will see even further investment and diversification in our plant and equipment.
“Our continued success has been founded on the high level of service we offer. The unrivalled support and availability of parts from our dealer Scot JCB enables us to deliver that. They treat us fantastically well and we see them as an integral part of our business and the ongoing decision to choose JCB equipment.”
Founded in 1988, the Lomond Plant Group employs over 100 people and provides general plant hire services – both operated and self-drive – to the construction industry across Scotland. Customers include local authorities and major contractors and Lomond offers both short term rentals and long term supply agreements.
A 100 per cent family owned business, it boasts an extensive fleet of over 120 excavators including: backhoe loaders, tracked excavators from 1.5-22 tonnes, 16 tonne wheeled excavators, 6-9 tonne forward tipping dumpers and 12-metre telescopic handlers. Updated every 2-3 years, this is now predominantly JCB. Fundamental to the success of its business has been the provision of high quality equipment, a pool of experienced and fully trained operators, and excellent service - including 24-hour call out for service engineers.
