JCB TO BRING A BURST OF COLOUR TO ITS CHARITY FUNDRAISING

Staffordshire families are being urged to put their best foot forward as digger giant JCB brings a burst of colour to the region to mark one of its biggest fundraising challenges yet.

The JCB Colour Run, on Saturday 14th September, is one of several fundraising activities helping to raise £2 million in two years for the UK’s leading children’s charity NSPCC. Held between 10am and 4pm, the vibrant family fun day will see entrants showered in a rainbow of colour as they run, jog or walk the 2.5 mile course at Uttoxeter Racecourse.

Business Degree Apprentice Rebecca Brooks, from Ipstones, near Leek, is one of many  employees taking part in the event. She said:

This will be the first colour run I have ever done so I am really excited to be joining colleagues and friends in taking on the challenge for charity. Not only will it be an amazing experience, but it will help raise much needed funds for the NSPCC who do so much to support children in the area

Colour runs were first introduced in Arizona, USA, in 2011 and see runners wear white t-shirts while having coloured powder thrown towards them as they run past colour stations dotted along the course. Taking inspiration from the ancient Hindu festival of Holi, the events are not competitive and are designed to be like a family fun run with a colourful twist.

Tickets cost £10 for children, £20 for adults or £55 for a family with the funds going to support the JCB’s NSPCC appeal. All runners will receive sunglasses and a white-t-shirt to wear during the event, plus a packet of powder paint. The appeal will culminate in 2025 when JCB celebrates its 80th anniversary – and 40 years of support for the UK’s leading children’s charity.
