The JCB 542-100 come with DualTech variable transmission as standard- the world’s first and only 2-in-1 variable transmission (hydrostatic and powershift). Providing a seamless transition from hydrostatic to direct mechanical drive, DualTech VT enables precise low-speed manoeuvring control and smooth, progressive response for loading and handling cycles. To enhance comfort and convenience, increase productivity, and provide faster working speeds.

Hydrostatic transmission mode
Hydrostatic drive provides fast response, fine speed adjustment and infinitely variable working speeds from 0-22kph *model dependent.
Powershift transmission mode
However, when the 542-100 AGRI Loadall exceeds 19-22kph*, the DualTech VT switches automatically to direct mechanical drive, which uses gears to shift smoothly up to a true 40/50kph speed*^.
Eco and power modes
The power setting enables operators to exploit full engine revs and power output to get jobs done quickly. Using the economy setting, operators can reduce fuel consumption with the 1,700rpm ceiling on engine revs.
Flexi mode
With flexi mode, engine speed and ground speed can be controlled independently.
Drive mode
Operators can use drive mode to influence hydrostatic output and engine speed using acceleration, with control electronics balancing the two.
