ENGINEERING HONOUR FOR JCB'S NEW ELECTRIC MINI

E-TEC Award

JCB’s brand new electric mini excavator has been honoured with an award recognised as one of the most prestigious in British engineering.

JCB’s brand new electric mini excavator has been honoured with an award recognised as one of the most prestigious in British engineering. JCB has been given the Dewar Trophy for ‘Outstanding Technical Achievement in the British Automotive Industry’ for the launch of the new 19C-1E. The Award was accepted on behalf of the team behind the project by JCB’s Director of Advanced Engineering Bob Womersley yesterday.
I’m absolutely delighted that JCB has been presented with the Dewar Trophy. For our new electric mini excavator to be recognised in this way is tremendous for the company and the team which has developed it.

Lord Bamford|

Accepting the Award, Bob Womersley said: “The Dewar Trophy is one of the most prestigious accolades in British engineering. It is a really proud moment for the whole of the team involved in the JCB electric excavator development. The Trophy is normally given to automotive companies and for JCB to receive it, as a construction equipment manufacturer, is quite an honour.”

John Wood MBE, Chairman of the Dewar Technical Committee, said: “Awarding the 2019 trophy to JCB was a unanimous decision by the Dewar Technical Committee. It represents a bold commitment to the introduction of novel technology in the off-road sector”. The Royal Automobile Club's Dewar Trophy has a long and distinguished history stretching back to its inception in 1906. It is presented only in years when the Club’s committee believes that there are contenders of sufficient merit. JCB is one of only four companies to receive the Award more than once. JCB won it in 2006 for the Dieselmax car project.

JCB LAUNCHES ELECTRIC TELETRUK - EXPANDING FULL FAMILY OFFERING

JCB 66-40E ELectric Teletruk

The JCB 66-40E Electric Teletruk delivers the performance of an industrial forklift with forward reach, zero emissions and zero noise.

SAVANNAH, Ga., September 1, 2020 – Today, JCB announced the launch of the 66-40E Electric Teletruk to customers in the United States. The 66-40E is an industry exclusive among industrial forklifts, featuring a forward reach in a market that has standardized a straight mast. Additionally, as the company’s latest zero emissions machine, the 66-40E Teletruk delivers the material handling capability of an industrial forklift with an exceptional operator environment. This quiet machine is ideal for inside use and noise-sensitive environments, yet it is equipped like all JCB machines for world-class power, range, and the ability to work in any weather condition.

Equipped with a unique telescopic forward reach extending more than 7-feet, the 66-40E Teletruk can easily reach across a standard flatbed truck for one-side loading and placing, increasing productivity and allowing for unloading in tight spaces. The 6,600 lb maximum lift capacity allows for heavy lifting capabilities across multiple applications. The combination of forward reach and lift capacity offers exceptional operator control for a wide variety of jobs including reaching into ships to remove cargo, the back of box trucks to remove pallets, and even reaching to the front of a cargo van from the back door.

The introduction of an electric Teletruk is a long-awaited addition to our JCB Teletruk family. The 66-40E Teletruk expands the range from diesel and LPG powered Teletruks to a machine that runs on electric power and can work safely inside environmentally-restrictive areas, low emissions zones and food storage operations. This machine is also extremely efficient, powered by an 80v lead acid battery, using a stand-alone charger that can provide 8 hours of standard run time.

Rebecca Yates, product manager for Teletruks at JCB North America.

Like all JCB machines, the 66-40E Teletruk is built with JCB innovation, setting the standard for ease of operation, comfort, and safety. JCB’s unique Load Motion Control feature alerts the operator through a simple progressive green, amber and red warning light system and progressively stops the lift hydraulics when the maximum lift capacity is reached, preventing forward tip. The machine’s spacious cab is equipped with the JCB CommandPlus control panel and ergonomic controls for an exceptionally comfortable working environment, decreasing operator fatigue and increasing productivity. Additional standard features include: single lever control and SMART hydraulics for improved operation; SPINTURN 90deg rear axle allowing the machine to turn within its own axis; SMART electric driveline;  LED work lights, LED beacon, and reverse arm; LiveLink telematics with 5 year subscription.

JCB is the world’s largest privately-owned manufacturer of construction and agricultural equipment. At 22 plants spanning four continents – and countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, China, India, and Brazil – JCB manufactures a range of more than 300 products including Loadall telescopic handlers, backhoe loaders, excavators, wheel loaders, compact excavators, skid steer loaders, compact track loaders, Access aerial platforms, rough terrain forklifts, and Fastrac tractors.
